U4GM Why Normal Mode and Kill Streaks Level You Fast S12

Season 12 has a funny little lie baked into it: the game acts like difficulty is a choice, but early on it's basically a speed test. If you're trying to reach Torment ASAP, don't get cute with Hard or Expert. Normal is where you fly. Stuff dies fast, your XP per hour stays high, and you don't waste time kiting elites around corners. I'll usually grab whatever Diablo 4 Items info I need later, but at the start I'm not "building" anything—I'm just leveling, moving, and taking the shortest line to 60.

Start smart, not brave

First job: knock out the early seasonal questline until you've snagged the key unlocks and extra skill points. People love wandering off to clear every dungeon icon they see, and it feels productive, but it's slow. Quests funnel you into fights and rewards with less dead air. Keep your route simple: follow objectives, kill what blocks you, and leave the rest for later when you're stronger and it actually pays. If you hit a wall where mobs stop melting, that's not a sign to "challenge yourself." It's a sign to tighten your loop and keep the pace up.

Strongholds and public events do the heavy lifting

As soon as you can handle them, start clearing Strongholds. They're chunky XP, they're usually packed with enemies, and they flip the map in a way that unlocks more activity around you. After that, lean into Legion-style public events when they pop. Season 12 density makes them ridiculous for leveling—constant mobs, constant drops, constant progress. The trick is to show up ready to chain fights, not to stop and admire your loot. If an event ends and you're standing still, you're already losing time.

Keep the streak alive, keep your feet moving

Kill streak XP is the real engine this season, and Helltides are built for it. You sprint from pack to pack, your bar jumps, and you don't get stuck in long travel gaps. Town trips are the silent killer. Don't port back because your bag looks messy. Salvage when you must, sure, but treat it like a pit stop, not a hobby. Pop an elixir the moment you have one and keep it running; it's cheap power and the XP bonus adds up fast. Gear-wise, don't overthink it: higher item power, movement speed when you can get it, and no big crafting detours until you're near endgame.

Hitting 60 and gearing without burning out

Once you're closing in on 60, you'll feel the pace shift—fewer "new" things to unlock, more focus on efficiency. That's when you can start thinking about your Paragon direction and which activities you actually enjoy, like The Pit or targeted farming. If RNG's being stingy and you're trying to smooth out your transition into Torment, it can help to fill gaps with trading or quick pickups; plenty of players use U4GM to buy currency or items so their build comes online faster, then they get back to the part that matters: killing nonstop and pushing harder content.
