Universal Packaging Brings New Die-Cutting Technology To Vancouver
Universal Packaging is introducing its Canadian die-cutting technology with its new location in Vancouver, with Mississauga planned as the next location. This expansion follows several die-cutting technology upgrades, with the earlier Digital Knife Cutter introduced in 2024 and then the Laser Die Cutting Machine in 2025. The latest advancement is full-servo high-performance Rotary Die-Cutting (RDC) technology, supporting precise rotary cutting, consistent converting quality, and high production speeds, such as the Koenig & Bauer CutPRO X 106. The RDC range processes carton board from 180–350 g/m², with web widths of 335–820 mm and speeds of up to 250 m/min.
“Our continued expansion across Canada brings us closer to customers, with advanced printing technology supporting flexible packaging solutions and ongoing growth,” said Danial James, Managing Director of Universal Packaging. William Crooks, a designer as well, said that “The upgraded digital printing process is designed for greater consistency in presentation across formats.” Mayor Bonnie Crombie says, “Mississauga is a great place to do business because of our low taxes, highly skilled workforce, strategic location to key markets and our competitive commercial and industrial real estate.” The Mississauga location broadens the company’s regional printing reach, while the upcoming Toronto location is expected to further extend its Canadian presence and maintain consistent printing standards across local markets.
