U4GM Diablo 4 Tips to Prep for Lord of Hatred Fast

With Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred landing on April 28, 2026, these last days before launch are worth using well, especially if you've still got a stash full of Diablo 4 Items and no real plan for what stays or goes. I've been through enough big ARPG updates to know the same thing always happens: people log in on day one, get excited, then waste half the night sorting junk. Don't do that to yourself. If Season of Slaughter taught anything, it's that messy prep slows you down more than bad luck ever will. A little boring cleanup now makes the trip to the Isles of Skovos feel a lot better once the servers open.

Start with your gear and stash

The first job is simple. Open every stash tab and be honest about your Mythic gear. Not sentimental. Honest. If a piece helped you three weeks ago but doesn't fit any build you'd actually play going into the expansion, it's dead weight. I usually keep the strongest all-around items, anything that still rolls well for leveling, and a few flexible pieces in case early balance changes hit. Everything else gets broken down. Resplendent Sparks matter, and they matter more than a pile of “maybe someday” items. You'll also want room for new drops fast, because the first few days of an expansion are never tidy. They're chaotic, and your inventory fills up quicker than you expect.

Stack resources before prices go up

After that, it's all about materials and gold. This is the part a lot of players ignore because it's not flashy, but it's probably the smartest prep you can do. Farm Masterworking materials. Save Forgotten Souls. Keep a healthy gold pile ready. New systems and new gear always burn through resources at an ugly rate, and you really notice it once you start testing upgrades. If you're planning to jump into tougher content early, being broke is miserable. I'd also finish any Seasonal Journey chapters you're close to completing. If a reward is still within reach, get it done now. Cosmetics have a nasty habit of becoming the thing you wish you didn't skip once the season's gone.

Get ready for Warlock and clear the clutter

The Warlock is obviously the big talking point, and even if you're not 100 percent sure you'll main it, it's worth prepping like you might. Read the skill reveals again. Think about how you like to play. Some people are going in blind, which is fun, sure, but having a rough idea of your first build saves time and bad respecs. I'd also clear your quest log before launch. Old side quests, half-finished errands, random leftovers from weeks ago, all of that just drags on your attention when a new campaign starts. Go into Skovos clean, focused, and ready to move. If you're still missing a few pieces for your current setup, plenty of players will probably buy Diablo 4 Items early just to smooth out that first push into the expansion, and honestly, that urge makes perfect sense.
