The Services segment is a critically important and substantial part of the market. This encompasses all the human expertise required to design, implement, and maintain the complex telecom IT environment. This segment can be broken down further. Professional Services includes consulting services to help CSPs define their IT transformation strategy, as well as system integration (SI) services to deploy, customize, and integrate new software platforms from multiple vendors. This is a massive market, often dominated by large global SIs and the professional services arms of the software and equipment vendors themselves. Managed Services is another large and growing sub-segment. In this model, a CSP outsources the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and support of its IT infrastructure to a third-party provider.
