A single AI training rack can demand 70-120 kW, which is four to six times more than a traditional compute rack. The power semiconductor solution here involves moving from legacy 12V to 48V rack-level distribution and using high-density gallium nitride (GaN) FETs and multi-phase controllers to deliver sub-1V power to processors efficiently. This solution enables the scaling of AI infrastructure by managing the immense power it consumes, making it economically and physically viable. Similarly, in ultra-fast EV charging stations (350 kW and above), SiC MOSFETs are providing the 97%+ conversion efficiency needed in a compact form factor.

Furthermore, the power semiconductor solution is increasingly about enhancing reliability and enabling new services. Advanced modules with embedded sensors and connectivity are moving from being a simple hardware component to a source of data for predictive maintenance. This allows system operators to monitor the health of power modules in real-time, anticipate failures, and schedule maintenance proactively, thereby reducing downtime and improving the overall reliability of critical infrastructure like EV fleets and wind turbines. As the global electricity demand is projected to grow by 100% by 2050, and as the need for higher efficiency and power density intensifies, the power semiconductor solution will become even more central. It is not just about components; it's about providing the foundational technology that powers a more sustainable, efficient, and connected world.
