However, with the advent of LTE and 5G Broadcast, there is a growing recognition that they can be powerful partners. Broadcasters have the compelling live content and production expertise, while MNOs have the network infrastructure and the direct relationship with mobile users. This trend is leading to the formation of new partnerships and joint ventures to trial and commercialize 5G Broadcast services. A public broadcaster might partner with an MNO to ensure its channels are available on mobile devices, fulfilling its public service mission. A commercial sports broadcaster might partner with an MNO to offer a premium, interactive mobile viewing experience. This cross-industry collaboration is essential for creating a viable business model and a compelling end-to-end service that can attract a mass audience.
