What's going on, dear readers? We're here to share some information direct from Jagex. They decided, apparently, to shut down RuneLabs. To get into the details, RuneLabs will be closed on May 28th which is when Ideas for 2017 ends. Technically it'll still be running, however, the criteria won't change. introduced and you won't be able to submit ideas as well as the RuneScape website will not include any hyperlinks to RuneLabs.
In explaining their decision, Jagex announced that they're shutting the project because of the small number of players who are playing the game. It's understandable why they'd like to shut down something that is only the smallest percentage of RuneScape players. Jagex acknowledges that the system's limitations could be a factor with low participation.
In the near future, Jagex will reopen RuneLabs to address issues that truly require it. for major Player Power pushes such as annual surveys, for instance. It is hoped that this will allow only the most effective suggestions the chance to be accepted and get the backing of the public. Jagex will be looking into other options for this Player Power process.
The other thing we'd like to talk about would be Treasure Hunter. For those who aren't aware, Treasure Hunter is playable in RuneScape. It lets players make use of Keys to win prizes in game.
